Ergonomics
Introduction
Ergonomics is the study of designing and arranging equipment, workspaces, and systems in a way that maximizes efficiency, safety, comfort, and productivity while minimizing the risk of injury and discomfort to the user. It is a multidisciplinary field that draws on principles from engineering, biomechanics, psychology, physiology, and other related disciplines. The goal of ergonomics is to optimize the interaction between the user and the environment, equipment, or product in order to enhance overall well-being and performance. This includes considering factors such as body posture, physical demands, sensory requirements, mental workload, and environmental conditions. Some of the areas where ergonomics is commonly applied include office workstations, industrial equipment, transportation systems, and healthcare facilities.
